TFF And the Right To Adequate Food
According to the Office of the High Commission of Human Rights, food must be available, accessible and adequate. Availability requires that food be available from natural resources through means including the cultivation of crops and animal husbandry or other ways like fishing, hunting and gathering. It also implies that food should be available to buy in the shops should anyone desire to do so. Accessibility means individuals should be both economically and physically able to access the food whenever they so desire. Finally adequacy means the food must satisfy the dietary needs of whoever is consuming it regardless of age, sex or occupation for example. In addition to this, Section 77 of the Zimbabwean constitution states that every person has the right to sufficient food and government would take all measures available to it to achieve the progressive realisation of this right. However, looking at the current state of the country and the world at large, there is need for the young people to innovate and think wider to come up with solutions to food security problems; which is where the Thought For Food Foundation comes in.
The Thought For Food Foundation (TFF) is an organisation based in Switzerland and founded by Christine Gould to tackle food security issues through engaging with the youth or next generation in food and agriculture and empowering them to become innovators and solution builders while supporting them through mentorship and giving them access to a global community. The main question the organisation seeks to answer is how to adequately and sustainably feed an excess of 9 billion people by the year 2050. The organisation strives to create a community of young like minds that can go to their communities and conscientize them on food security issues while offering innovative solutions and preventive measures to the issues surrounding food security. To achieve this, TFF has ambassadors and participants all over the globe pushing awareness and collaborations with others sympathetic to the cause.
Heather Makufa is a TFF pre-selected Ambassador, whose interests in food security stem from its connectivity to poverty- a subject she is passionate about. She possesses a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Pretoria and a master’s degree in Applied Econometrics from Kingston University, London. She aspires to do her graduate research degree in developmental studies and focusing on food security, poverty and inequality.

Interview with Capital 100.4FM Radio Presenter Tariro (Tari-Anne stonya) Manamike
Capital 100.4FM Radio Presenter Tariro (Tari-Anne stonya) Manamike on her broadcasting journey and how she maintains a work-life balance.
Tariro Manamike is an ambitious young lady who was born and raised in Harare in 1986. The first-born in a family of 3, she boasts an impressive career working as a radio presenter, producer, motivational speaker, and a writer as well a marketer. We caught up with Tariro to learn about her inspirational journey.
Career background:
I write and produce stuff for radio and produce documentaries. I also write articles on gender and anything that really interests me. My career as a broadcaster started in December 2015. I went for auditions and went through the rigorous process and then I was selected to start in January 2016 so it's been two years now as a broadcaster, but I have experience in the print industry, the advertising industry as well, so mainly marketing is my forte but let's just say broadcasting happened to align with where I was at the right place, the right time.
On Career Challenges:
I can't really say that I have encountered many. The challenging part of it is people management. You meet people from various backgrounds and you need to be able to converse with them in a way that they feel comfortable, that is not intimidating but at the same time, you need to ask questions that are relevant. I have to remember that I am speaking on behalf of the thousands or millions of people that are listening that have certain questions that they need answers to. On a challenging day, you'll have a listener that will have the most random question or will make the most random contribution that will put you in a tight spot. But, it's part of the job so I wouldn't really call it a challenge.
Message to aspiring broadcasters who look up to me:
My message to those who would like to be like me is be yourself. Look up to people that you admire, people who inspire you but ultimately, know who you are and let that align with your core.
Maintaining family-life balance:
My job involves a lot of reading and it's a magazine show so I do interviews, I have discussions, I talk about things that area trending, current affairs, things that are happening in the paper, I talk about religion and all of this and the beauty of that is that these are everyday things that affect each and every one of us. When I'm preparing for my shows, I also consult my child who's the older one for his opinion, so he doesn't necessarily feel like I'm working, essentially I'm working and also parenting, educating and having the opportunity to discuss these things with him at the same time. For the little one, I always dedicate at least an hour every day where it's absolutely me and him and we are playing and there's nothing else- to remove distractions. I also have a lot of people who are around me who give me support and take the children off my hands so that I also have that me time balance.Tari-Anne stonya's magazine radio show airs on Capitalk FM 100.4 from 9am to 12midday.
